Welcome to the The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf! We are a Pre-K to 12th grade school located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. We wish to recognize the responsibility entrusted to us to educate the deaf and hard-of-hearing in Southern Pennsylvania. We value our place in history, and pledge to uphold the legacy as leaders in the field of Deaf Education.
The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD), a non-profit, tuition-free school, provides academic and extracurricular programs to deaf and hard of hearing children from birth through twelfth grade. Founded in 1869, WPSD continues its tradition of excellence through services to children across Pennsylvania.
The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children, a non-profit, tuition-free school located in Northeast Pennsylvania, provides a variety of academic and extracurricular programs to deaf and hard-of-hearing children from birth through the 8th grade.
Associations
Encouraging the growth of the interpreting profession throughout the state, by educating the public about the vital role of sign language interpreters, and advocating for communication access for all d/deaf, hard-of-hearing, DeafBlind, deaf-disabled, late-deafened individuals.
The objective of this organization is to bring closer contact between the school and the alumni members and friends; to promote a feeling of fellowship, support and loyality to our Alma Mater; and to hold reunions. PSDAA is regarded as an integral part of Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Philadelphia, PA.
To promote social intercourse among the former pupils of the School, to establish a high standard of conduct, to extend a helping hand to the unfortunate, to advance the interests of the deaf in every way and to bring the members into closer touch with the teachers and officers of the Institution.
